Beautiful Work
In the Innovation Academy, we push ourselves to create value for others. In such a context, learning takes a whole new meaning. We pride ourselves on the work we create because it's our labor of love.
This video speaks to the work that goes into creating a product of value like our flagship photo exhibition. It was written and filmed by the IA Seniors (Class of 2020) as part of their marketing project under the supervision of Gabriela Urco and Jimena Mora.
The Deep Dive
The Deep Dive project nudges students to learn about the problems that are plaguing Lima. They are given the time to do field investigations so that they can see different perspectives and better understand the complexity of the issues they're researching.
Students also have the opportunity to learn photography from an expert and take pictures that reflect the issue they are investigating. These photographs are showcased in a photo exhibition for the Roosevelt community and the general public.

in 11th Grade for The Economics Project.
They capture the beauty of interdisciplinary

The Magazine Project
Students love this project because for a semester they get to set up their own magazine publishing company.
Creating a professional magazine requires a lot of time, sweat, and fundraising. Students not only get to write their own articles and take photos for them but they also get to raise funds from sponsors, handle a budget of $3000, and market the magazine. Each magazine created over the course of the years has been its own gem and it has told compelling stories. Be it shedding light on the up and coming artists in Lima, showing the best food Lima has to offer, or inspiring our community to see issues affecting Lima from a new perspective, this process has taught students the importance of being able to rely on one another to see a final product through. By coming together around a shared project, the cohorts tell us that this project has been the spark to some deep and meaningful relationships.
